Taking on New Shapes
The things we truly care about tend to stay with us.
Some are used every day, while others come and go with the seasons. Yet the things we genuinely love are rarely discarded. Somehow, they always find a place within our lives.
Living in a limited space has made me think about that often.
部屋には、その人が大切にしているものが自然と残っていく。
毎日使うものもあれば、季節によって出番が変わるものもある。それでも、本当に気に入ったものは手放されることなく、暮らしのどこかに居場所を見つけていく。
限られた空間で暮らしていると、そのことをよく考える。
There are certainly ways to make life more comfortable by adding something new.
Lately, though, I've become more interested in making better use of what I already have.
When a single item can serve more than one purpose, it continues to evolve alongside everyday life.
There is something quietly satisfying about that kind of versatility.
新しいものを増やすことで快適さを手に入れる方法もある。
けれど最近は、今あるものをどう活かすかに惹かれるようになった。
ひとつのものが複数の役割を持ち、暮らしの中で形を変えながら存在し続ける。
そんな在り方には、不思議な豊かさがある。
One example is a favorite blanket made from recycled materials.
Its role changes throughout the year, but it never disappears from daily life.
When tucked into a cushion cover, it becomes something that naturally belongs on the sofa, accompanying slower moments at home.
Rather than being stored away when it's not in use, it simply takes on a different form and remains part of the space.
Perhaps that's what it means to use something for a long time.

季節によって出番は変わるけれど、暮らしの中から消えることはない。
クッションカバーに収めれば、今度はソファで過ごす時間に寄り添う存在になる。
使わないから片付けるのではなく、形を変えながら暮らしの中に居続ける。
長く使うとは、そんなことなのかもしれない。
Taking care of our belongings isn't simply about making them last.
It's about finding new purposes for them as life changes, and continuing to give them a place to belong.
Today, a cushion rests quietly in the corner of the sofa.
But in truth, it is more than a cushion.
It is a favorite companion that continues to change shape with everyday life—something I know I'll keep using for years to come.
モノを大切にするというのは、ただ長持ちさせることではない。
その時々の暮らしに合わせて新しい役割を見つけ、居場所を与え続けること。
今日もソファの片隅には、ひとつのクッションが置かれている。
けれど本当は、それはクッションではない。
暮らしの中で姿を変えながら、これからも長く付き合っていくお気に入りの一枚なのだ。
